Years Employed:
• Undergrad: 2005 – 2006
• Freelance: 2006 – Present
What are you doing now:
I am currently the weekend sports anchor/reporter for Channel 23, WIFR (CBS) in Rockford, Illinois. My responsibilities include shooting, writing, editing, and anchoring the nightly broadcasts. I still remain a freelance employee with Media Services for game production, and I freelance with the NIU Athletic Department as a public address announcer.
Fond memory of Media Services:
Some of my fondest memories range from shooting football games in dense fog (NIU vs. Toledo, 2006), going on road trips with the teams and the production crew, being a part of the production of "Inside Huskie Sports" at Fatty’s, and making my first television appearances as a "Junior" reporter alongside Brad Hoey.
How Media Services employment helped your career:
There's no question, I wouldn't be here without the knowledge I attained while working at Media Services. Brad Hoey's mentoring has been instrumental in my career advancement, and I've been able to sharpen my production skills with Patrick Gorman's guidance at the Convo. The people I made contacts with and the skills that I learned during my time at Media Services have both helped me to advance my career at an expedited rate.
