Brad Hoey, Sports Video Producer for Media Services, has completed another highly successful broadcast season of "Inside Huskie Sports," NIU's sports magazine television show. Inside Huskie Sports is produced exclusively by NIU Media Services' full-time and student staff for Comcast SportsNet Chicago.
In the fall of 2006, in order to include more fan participation, Media Services began taping segments of IHS in front of a live audience at Fatty's Pub & Grille in DeKalb, and the fan's reaction to this new format was very favorable.
As the spearhead project of the Division's modernization plan, all Inside Huskie Sports segments, interviews, and highlights are now produced in the 16:9 wide screen standard definition format, and the show is televised in both Standard Definition (SD) on Comcast SportsNet and in High Definition (HD) on Comcast SportsNet HD. A total of 20 episodes were produced for the 2006-07 NIU football and basketball seasons. Comcast SportsNet Chicago reaches up to 3.3 million viewers in four states via local cable television providers, and is available on satellite to both Dish Network, and Direct TV subscribers.
